Come, escape and relax in our suprisingly beautiful, quiet, peaceful and friendly scenery. You are welcome to camp on our rural estate (olive grove) in the amazing nature park Serra de Sao Mamede in the Alto Alentejo on the border with Spain.
Enjoy the Sun, the Stars, the breathtaking Silence and the Slow. The view on the (nightly lit) castle high up on the cliff.
Visit the highest village in Portugal: the walled medieval castle village of Marvão and the originally Jewish town of Castelo de Vide. Explore the amazing untouched rocky landscape with hidden hamlets by foot or bicycle right from your spot. The unique micro-climate offers a paradise for birders, nature lovers and those seeking some well deserved quality time. Escape tourism and the hectic of everyday life, relax and recharge in the beauty of unspoiled authentic Portugal.
Small scale – feel at home – camping for happy campers
We offer a limited number of camping spots for tents, caravans and campervans smaller than 7 meter in a 3 ha big landscape park with a refreshing salt water pool (April – September). Book now, choose your own spot on arrival and sleep under the amazing starlit sky.
Included are the use of electricity, the pool, toilets and showers, facilities for washing up, a toilet dump, the pleasure of donkey hugs, Dushi-time and free reliable WIFI at your spot. At terras Amsterdāo you can meet your fellow travelers and treat yourself to an Alentejo wine, a cold lager or a locally brewed beer, while enjoying the fairytale scenery of the rough and rocky green Alto Alentejo.

How long should we stay?
A lot of our guests that visit for the first time are in transit to or from the more obvious destinations (Algarve and the busy coastal area) and book just two nights (because that’s the minimum stay). That is just not enough …

Campscape rules: please read before you book
As you might have noticed, our Campscape is not a commercial business aimed at maximising occupation and profit. Our first priority is to have a good life ourselves and second, welcoming those who like camping (as it was ment to be) in an unspoiled beautiful and serene landscape. Making some friends and fun is easy and a bonus in the international Campscape scenery.
So we have some rules that might be different from what you are used to on other campsites and camperparks. But remember, you are staying at our home, and the rules in place are there to ensure a true sociable and sustainable escape.
- After installing yourself park your car and/or trailer in the designated parking areas, not at your pitch! We aim to minimise motorised traffic and vehicles on and around the camping spots.
- We welcome campervans (< 7 meter) for camping, but we are not a camperpark (park and drive). So when you plan on using your campervan as a car to go out sightseeing, we ask you politely to find another campsite or parking to stay. You are welcome to camp and relax. We advise you to do your shopping before arriving and when you don't want to enjoy one the wonderful walks or cycling routes to Beira, Marvao and Castelo de Vide you can use our taxiservice.
- Only well socialised dogs - towards people and other dogs - are welcome, always on a leash and under control. Please present your dog(s) at checkin.
- Please do not hang anything in or on our trees and respect the (grass-flower) borders of your spot. At the sanitary building and on the green field you'll find drying racks to dry your wash.
- Because of local regulations, open fire or barbecue on coals are prohibited. Please don't smoke while walking around. Smoking is allowed but please use an ashtray and always have some water at hand).
- The gates to the estate close at 19.00. As a guest you can open the gates and enter/exit the estate. However, after 22.00 hour you cannot enter the estate with your motorised vehicle and have to park it in front of kiosk Amsterdao.
- We take no responsibility for any loss or accidents on the grounds. You stay at your own risk.
